The imidazole ring is containing one of the important heterocyclic compounds found in endogenous biomolecules and pharmaceutical preparations. Different methods have been reported for the synthesis of 1-Hydroxyimidazoles and a number of them reported to possess significant biological activity, thus synthesis of some new derivatives are introduced for better antibacterial activity.

The evaluation of pharmaceutical raw materials and finished products for impurities and degradation product is vital part of the drug development and testing procedure. Furthermore, separation of any drug-related impurity that is present at a concentration of less than 0.05% of that of the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) is also critical part of process development and process validation. Present innovation includes identification by LC-MS, of overlapping unknown impurity, which is a carry forwarded impurity from 16α, 17α, 21-Trihydroxy-9, 11-Oxidopregna-1, 4-diene-3, 20-dione (5TR) (Key Starting Material), with that of Impurity-B and ∆14-Triamcinolone Hexacetonide (the most probable impurity in the process of Triamcinolone Acetonide to Triamcinolone Hexacetonide) of Triamcinolone Hexacetonide in pharmacopeial HPLC method of analysis. It’s identification, characterization as a ∆14 steroidal impurity, synthesis, assessment, and New (In-house)superior HPLC method development to separate it from API as well as other impurities including impurity B. Moreover, the synthesized ∆14 steroidal impurity converted to Acetonide and Hexacetonide family successfully.

Dentifrices are the products which are mainly used to maintain the oral hygiene such as freshness of mouth and to avoid tooth decay. The oral hygiene can be maintained throughout the day by using a variety of dentifrices prepared by herbal and synthetic ingredients. This work was carried out to prepare a tooth powder which can be used as a tool for proper oral hygiene and to overcome the side effects of the conventional toothpowder prepared by synthetic ingredients. The toothpowder was prepared by using various herbal ingredients which have the antibacterial, antiseptic properties. Eugenia cryophyllus, Glycyrrhiza glabra, Pipernigrum, Cinnamonum zeylanicum, Foenuculum vulgare, Quercus infectoria, Piper longum, Accacia Arabica, Terminalia chebula are the herbal ingredients were used in this work to formulate ideal tooth powder which can satisfy all the required properties to keep the mouth fresh and to prevent tooth decay caused by bacteria. The prepared tooth powder was evaluated for its organoleptic and physical characteristics such as colour, odour, taste, stability, foam ability and abrasiveness to ensure that it possesses all the desired features to use against the dental diseases. The result was found to be within the permitted limits.

A new simple, specific, precise and accurate RP-HPLC method has been for determination of vildagliptin in pharmaceutical dosage form. An Altima C18 column (150mm x 4.6mm, 5μm) as stationary phase. A mixture of dilute phosphoric acid solution pH 2.6±0.5 as buffer and acetonitrile in the ratio of 40:60 v/v was prepared and it is used as mobile phase. Injection volume was 10μL and flow rate was 0.5mL/min and run time was 6.0min. The column was maintained at ambient temperature and the eluent was monitored at 210nm. The retention time for vildagliptin was 3.05. The correlation coefficient value of Vildagliptin was 0.999. The validation method was developed as per ICH guidelines. The developed technique was validated for accuracy, precision, linearity, robustness, system suitability, specificity studies and result was analyzed according to the ICH guideline.

Curcumin in the form of Turmeric powder along with hot milk is widely consumed in India for its anti-inflammatory effects. Curcumin is widely used in traditional Indian ayurvedic medicine to treat hepatic disorders, anorexia, cough, diabetic wounds, rheumatoid arthritis, and sinusitis. Turmeric paste in slaked lime is a popular home remedy for the treatment of inflammation and wounds. Ancient texts of Indian medicine describe the use of curcumin in inflammatory diseases, wound healing, and abdominal problems. Curcumin, exhibits pleiotropic effects such as anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anticancer, antiviral and neurotropic activity and therefore holds a promise as a therapeutic agent to prevent and treat several diseases. The purpose of this review is to provide a brief overview of the plethora of research regarding the five major pleiotropic effects of curcumin.
