A simple spectrophotometric method is developed for the determination of vitamin C in pharmaceutical formulations. The method is based on the reaction of vitamin C with a mixture of potassium iodate (KIO3) and potassium iodide (KI) to form yellow coloured product in aqueous medium at room temperature (25 ± 1ºC). The reaction is followed spectrophotometrically by measuring absorbance at 352 nm. Under optimized experimental conditions, Beer’s law is obeyed in the concentration range of 1.0-3.5 μg/ml. The method is validated with respect to accuracy, precision, limits of detection and quantitation. Robustness testing is also conducted to evaluate the effect of minor changes to the absorbance of the product.
Hyperlipidemia is a heterogeneous disorder characterized by an elevated lipid profile, itself it usually causes no symptoms but it can lead to symptomatic vascular diseases, including coronary artery disease (cad) and peripheral arterial disease. Simvastatin is a 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme a reductase inhibitor, it is widely used in the treatment of hypercholesterolaemia. In the present study we planned to do the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic drug interactions between Simvastatin and the lipid lowering drug Trigonelline. From the results it may be inferred that drug-drug interaction of Simvastain with Trigonelline is pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic type.
Ninety elements occur naturally on earth. Out of these, nine are radioactive and among the remaining eighty one that could support life, sixty one are metals. Our bodies are 3% metal. Researchers have been established that some of metal complexes were biologically active than their parent ligands. Sulphanilamide is a well known antimicrobial agent, which are widely used in various diseases. Schiff’s bases of Sulphanilamide was prepared by treating with aromatic aldehyde like para diethyl amino benzyldehyde and paradimethyl amino benzyldehyde and their metal complexes were synthesized by reacting with metals like copper, zinc and cadmium. The metal complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, IR and H1NMR analysis. The in vitro antimicrobial and antioxidant activity were performed. The copper metal complexes of sulphanilamide possess good antimicrobial activity, whereas both copper and zinc metal complexes possess excellent antioxidant activity.

Two Simple, fast and reliable spectrophotometric methods were developed for determination of efavirenz in bulk and pharmaceutical dosage forms. The solutions of standard and the sample were prepared in methanol. The quantitative determination of the drug was carried out using the area under curve (AUC) method at selected area between 243 to 253nm because the linearity was obtained within these areas with good reproducibility of results and second order derivative method measured at 239 nm. Calibration graphs constructed at their wavelengths of determination were linear in the concentration range of efavirenz using 5-40 μg.mL-1 (r² = 0.9995 and r² = 0.9993) for AUC method and second order derivative spectrophotometric method. All the proposed methods have been extensively validated as per ICH guidelines. There was no significant difference between the performance of the proposed methods regarding the mean values and standard deviations. These methods were successfully applied to pharmaceutical formulations because no interferences from tablet excipients were found. The proposed methods were found to be simple, sensitive, accurate, precise, rapid and economical for the routine quality control application of efavirenz in pharmaceutical formulations.

In the present study an attempt was made to synthesize various substituted-1,2,4-triazole derivatives, starting from 4-tosylamino benzohydrazide (1) and to investigate their cytotoxic and antimicrobial activities. All the synthesized compounds were confirmed by IR, 1H, 13CNMR, Mass spectrometry and elemental analysis. All spectroscopic data of the new compounds show agreement with the expected values. Some of the newly synthesized compounds were evaluated for their cytotoxic activity against breast carcinoma (MCF7) and colon carcinoma (HCT116) cell lines. The cytotoxic activity showed that compounds 16, 24b have high activity against the two cell lines. Most of the newly prepared compounds were tested for their antimicrobial activity against Gram positive, Gram negative and fungi. The results showed that most of the tested compounds exhibit promising antimicrobial activity.
Nasal irrigation is an ancient complementary and alternative technique which originated in the Ayurvedic medical tradition in which it is known as "jala neti". Nasal irrigation is used to treat a wide range of chronic sinus and nasal symptoms; for chronic rhino sinusitis it can be an effective adjunctive therapy. Which promote mucociliary clearance by moisturizing the nasal cavity and by removing encrusted material by irrigating or rinsing the nasal passage. Garlic (Allium sativum L.) is an ancient crop that originated in Central Asia. But over the years, garlic has been used as a medicine to treat a wide range of diseases and conditions. These conditions include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, coronary heart disease, heart attack, atherosclerosis, fever, coughs, sinus congestion, gout, rheumatism, hemorrhoids, asthma, bronchitis, low blood pressure, low blood sugar, high blood sugar, and snakebites. It is also used for fighting stress and fatigue, and maintaining healthy liver function. Formulations of Garlic wash for Nasal hygiene, which consist of Iodine free salt, Sodium Bicarbonate, Garlic Extract, Distilled water. Herbal wash evaluated for various parameter like pH, tonicity, and Antibacterial activity against S. aureus. The herbal wash preparation was found to be safe and effective for nasal health.
Chemical synthesis is an essential part of drug development. Retrosynthetic analysis/Synthon disconnection approach has emerged as powerful tool in the synthesis design of targeted drugsfor their convergent and economical synthesis. In this perspective, we endeavor to profile some synthesis schemes for a potent antimigraine drug ‘Sumatriptan’ in a novel way basing on retrosynthetic analysis The proposed synthesis schemes being a theoretical exploration, the actual laboratory execution requires the cross examination of a considerable number of factors such as reactions, reagents and order of events. In actual practice, generally that route is most feasible which satisfies the specific criterion for an ideal synthesis.
Two Simple, rapid, accurate and economical UV Spectrophotometry, Zero and First Order Derivative methods have been developed for the determination of levofloxacin hemihydrate in bulk and tablets. In Distilled water the λmax of the drug was found to be 288nm. The same spectrum was derivative into zero, first order derivative, using UV probe software of instrument (Shimadzu-1800). The amplitude of the trough was recorded at 300 nm. In both proposed methods, levofloxacin hemihydrate follows linearity in the concentration range 2 - 10 μg/ml with a correlation coefficient of 0.9999. Assay results were in good agreement with label claim. The methods were validated statistically and by recovery studies. The relative standard deviations were found to be less than 2% with excellent precision and accuracy.
